Brilliant-Baseboards are ‘Open Grid’ baseboards, allowing the track beds or roads, to be laid out directly on top of the grid and above or below it, this allows the scenery to be constructed with a more natural look. Simply by carving the upper edge of the beams to the desired shape and gluing strips of card across from beam to beam, then painting with PVA glue. When dry you then 'basket weave' strips of card in the other direction until the whole surface is covered, then paint again with PVA glue. This give a solid but not flat surface. Then lay small strips of newspaper over the card lattice, still using PVA glue, making a paper maché surface. Buildings are set in, the baseboards, as they should be, with foundations.
All our baseboards come as ‘Flat Pack’ kits, with all you need to assemble them in the box, including the glue, glue brush and comprehensive instructions. Apart from the Fiddle Yard/Cassette Trays, all other Brilliant-Baseboard products, such as the… Support Legs, Leveling Feet, Fiddle Yard Support Racks, Track Beds and Track Risers etc, are fully assembled and RTR.

which ensure very precise alignment of the slots and holes.
Brilliant Baseboards ‘Open Grid’ baseboards are designed to be an alternative, to 'Unrealistic' flat top baseboards.

The BB 4/7 BPW ‘Ultimate’ 4/7 (Four long beams x Seven cross beams) is machined from 6.5mm Premium Grade, Top Quality, WBP (Water & Boil Proof), Birch Plywood. Essential! When Only the Best will Do! (This model is designed for carving and adapting the upper edges of the beams to incorporate valleys, rivers, hills and roads, to more closely resemble the natural landscape, use the infill of your choice, card lattice and paper maché, polystyrene, or what ever you decide is most suitable).

BB 4/4 H/S BPW. ‘Ultimate’ Half Size BB Half Size. 4/4 (Four long beams x Four cross beams) machined from 6.5mm Premium Grade, Top Quality, Birch Plywood.). (These half size baseboards can be very useful in tight spaces).
The full size baseboards measure 1200mm x 600mm x 130mm when assembled. The half size measure 600mm x 600mm x 130mm. All baseboards are sold as flat pack kits, to be assembled by the purchaser, All parts are ready to glue together, pack includes in addition to the main beams, 4# outer end blocks, 2# centre end blocks, 4fl oz glue, glue brush, M8 baseboard connecting bolts/knobs and M8 pronged tee nuts, together with comprehensive instructions.
Two or more baseboards can be bolted together… End to End, Side to Side, or Side to End, to create an ‘L’ shape or ultimately a square circle.

Our new Curved Baseboards are available in two sizes.
The '600r' has an inner radius of 600mm (2 ft) and an outer radius of
1200mm (4 ft)
Measures 915mm (36 inches) at it's longest part
The '900r' has an inner radius of 900mm (3 ft) and an outer radius of
1500mm (5 ft)
Measures 1142mm (45 inches) at it's longest part
Both sizes of Curved Baseboards have 45 degree ends.
Two are required for a 90 degree bend, or L shape.
Four are required for a 180 degree bend, or U shape.
Eight are required for a 360 degree complete circle.
Any of our standard baseboards can fit between the circle as long as they are in pairs.
